Cookie Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies northernmfg.com (the “Site”) uses, why the Site does not show a cookie banner, and how you can opt out. It consolidates and replaces the regional cookie policies (EU, UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Brazil) previously published on this domain. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies can remember preferences, keep track of a browsing session, or measure how a site is used. Related technologies such as scripts and local storage behave similarly; for convenience this policy refers to all of them as cookies.

What This Site Uses

The Site is a static website. It has no login, no shopping cart, and no advertising. It uses a small set of measurement and security technologies, listed in full below:

Google Analytics 4 (analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages are visited and how the Site performs. GA4 sets first-party cookies (names beginning with _ga) that distinguish browsers for measurement.

Our GA4 configuration uses Google Consent Mode v2 with the following fixed defaults:

  • analytics_storage: granted (anonymous usage measurement)
  • ad_storage: denied
  • ad_user_data: denied
  • ad_personalization: denied
  • Google Signals: off

In plain terms: we measure page visits, and we have switched off every advertising, remarketing, and cross-site profiling capability the tool offers. Analytics data is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google.

The _ga cookies persist for up to 2 years. In our GA4 property, event-level data is retained for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. Google Analytics does not load at all for visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland; the only measurement that runs in those regions is the cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics described below.

Our GA4 property has a linked Google Ads tag (AW-1069924912) that loads through the same Google tag. Because ad_storage and ad_personalization are denied under Consent Mode v2, this tag sets no advertising cookies, runs no remarketing, and sends no conversion or audience data to Google Ads for cross-site advertising. It is present only because it shares Google’s tag infrastructure with our analytics measurement, and it operates with every advertising signal switched off.

Cloudflare Web Analytics (analytics, cookieless)

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate performance measurement. It sets no cookies and uses no client-side identifiers.

Microsoft Clarity (product analytics, session replay)

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages so we can improve layout, navigation, and usability. Clarity produces aggregated heatmaps and anonymized session replays that capture interactions such as mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and page navigation. Clarity automatically masks page text and form-field content by default, so it does not record what you type into a form.

Clarity is provided by Microsoft. Under Microsoft’s Clarity terms, Microsoft acts as an independent controller of Clarity interaction data, not merely our processor: it may use that data for its own purposes, including improving its products and services, consistent with the Microsoft Privacy Statement. That independent role is one reason we restrict where Clarity runs (see below). Clarity sets first-party cookies (_clck, persists up to 1 year; _clsk, 1 day) to recognize a browser across pages and sessions, and Microsoft sets additional cookies (including MUID, a Microsoft identifier that persists for about 13 months and that Microsoft can recognize across its own services and other sites that use Microsoft technologies). We use Clarity only for product analytics and usability research, never to build advertising profiles or to retarget you. Microsoft retains session data for up to 30 days and aggregated heatmap data for up to 13 months.

Clarity does not load at all, and therefore sets no cookies, for: visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland; visitors in US states whose laws require all-party consent for session recording (currently California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Washington, Massachusetts, and Maryland); and any browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal. In addition to Clarity’s default masking, every form on the Site carries Clarity’s masking attribute, so form content is excluded from recordings at the page level as well.

Cloudflare Turnstile (anti-spam, form pages only)

The contact and quote forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused alternative to CAPTCHA, to block automated spam submissions. Turnstile loads only on pages that contain a form and may set a temporary cookie or use local storage to complete its challenge; any such entry is short-lived and scoped to completing the challenge. It is a security control, not an analytics or advertising tool: it sets no advertising cookies, performs no cross-site tracking, and is not used to profile you.

First-party acquisition source (local storage)

On your first visit, the Site stores a small record in your browser’s local storage (nmc_first_touch) noting the referring site and any search or ad campaign parameters in the address you arrived on. It is written once, never sent to any advertising platform, and is used only to tell us which channel brought you to us if you later submit an inquiry. Clearing site data for northernmfg.com removes it.

What we do not use

  • No advertising or marketing cookies, and no remarketing or conversion advertising cookies
  • No social media pixels
  • No selling or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

The only third-party cookies the Site sets are the Microsoft Clarity analytics cookies described above (used for usability research, not advertising) and the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-spam challenge, which loads only on form pages. Both run with every advertising and remarketing signal switched off.

The Site sets no advertising or marketing cookies, runs no remarketing, and does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The cookies present are analytics and anti-spam cookies running with every advertising signal switched off. Rather than interrupt every visit with a banner, we document the full configuration here and give you direct opt-out controls below. If our use of cookies ever changes in a way that requires consent, we will add a consent mechanism before that change goes live.

How to Opt Out

You can opt out of analytics measurement in any of these ways:

  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for specific sites or all sites. Blocking cookies for northernmfg.com does not break the Site.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. Install Google’s official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops GA4 measurement on every site you visit.
  • Microsoft Clarity opt-out. Blocking or deleting cookies for northernmfg.com stops Clarity from recognizing your browser. You can also opt out of Microsoft’s interest-based data use through the Microsoft privacy dashboard. Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal are honored as described below.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of “sale”/“sharing” where those concepts apply. We do not sell or share personal information, and we honor the signal in the browser: when GPC is present, Microsoft Clarity is not loaded and sets no cookies.
  • Private browsing. Cookies set during a private or incognito session are deleted when the session ends.

For opting out of marketing email and exercising data rights (access, deletion, correction), see the Your Choices and Rights section of our Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when the Site’s measurement configuration changes. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
