Why Start a Career in Welding
Hear it from the shop floor: this short video covers why welding at Northern is a different job than welding at a production shop, straight from the people doing it.
Welding Career Paths
A career in welding is a foundation, not a ceiling. Welders at Northern have grown into every one of the roles below, and the hands-on experience is what makes them good at the next job.

Management Careers
Lead man, supervisor, plant manager. Leads at Northern run crews, robotic cells, and code jobs, and they came up through this same training path.

Engineering
Welding engineering and manufacturing engineering. A welder who knows how a joint actually goes together writes better procedures and better routings.

Advanced Technology
Robotic welding and laser welding. The shop runs vision-guided robotic cells and fiber laser welding, and welders train into programming and running them.

Quality and Training
AWS Certified Welding Inspector, educator. Our CWI inspects production and trainee welds, and every step of the program is taught in-house.
